From May until now, the anchor of the week on Locke Street South has been Saturday morning in a parking lot at the corner of Herkimer. This Saturday, November 7, is the last of those mornings for 2026. Six days later, Locke's holiday season begins on a Friday night. Between then and Christmas, most of the street's calendar happens in the evening.
That shift says something about how the street works in winter. From mid-November on, Locke's events lean toward evenings: a Friday night opening, three Thursday late nights and a weekly rotation of live music. Magic of Locke's Saturday, November 14, is the one full daytime date left on the BIA's list. Anyone who has treated Locke as a Saturday-morning street can use the dates below to plan for the evening version.
The Last Saturday at 260 Locke South
The Locke Street Farmers Market opened its 2026 season on May 9. It runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine, and the market's own site lists November 7 as the final day of the season.
It sets up at 260 Locke Street South, at the corner of Locke and Herkimer, in the Locke Street Tire and Automotive parking lot. The location shapes the rest of the season. The market sits at the south end of the commercial strip, and the street's biggest holiday event uses that same southern boundary.
The market is also the last item on the Locke St Shops events page that runs in daylight on a regular schedule. Over the course of the BIA's 2026 calendar, the daytime events thin out:
- April 4: Easter Egg Hunt, noon to 2 p.m.
- May 2 and 3: Jane's Walk tours at noon
- June 5 to 14: Art on Locke
- June 21, August 16, September 20 and October 18: Sundays UnLocked, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Spring to fall: Farmers Market, Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon
After the market closes, the BIA lists two holiday events. Both of them include evening hours.
November 13 and 14, Hunter to Herkimer
Experience the Magic of Locke runs November 13 and 14, 2026, along Locke Street between Hunter and Herkimer. That is the full commercial stretch, from the north end down to the same corner where the market just closed. The City of Hamilton's event listing files it under BIA and holiday events for all ages and families. It describes shopping and seasonal celebration, with hours of 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday and all day on Saturday.
The BIA's own schedule adds one detail: live music on Friday, November 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. So the holiday season starts with a three-hour evening on a weeknight. Saturday follows as a full shopping day.
Saturday, November 14 is also when the Hamilton Santa Claus Parade runs. The two events don't share any streets. According to the City's parade listing, the parade runs from 2 to 4 p.m. It starts at Upper Sherman and Acadia Drive, goes north on Upper Sherman to Limeridge Road East, then west to Lime Ridge Mall Road, and ends in the mall's south-side parking lot. It's a free outdoor event, and the parade organizers' route map has the full route. Locke's Saturday runs all day and the parade fills two hours in the afternoon, so households that want both can fit them into the same day.
The Calendar From Here to Christmas
| Date | Event | Time | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saturday, November 7 | Locke Street Farmers Market, final day | 9 a.m. to noon | 260 Locke St. S. at Herkimer |
| Friday, November 13 | Magic of Locke, with live music | 5 to 8 p.m. | Locke St., Hunter to Herkimer |
| Saturday, November 14 | Magic of Locke | All day | Locke St., Hunter to Herkimer |

| Thursday, December 10 | Holiday Shopping Late Night | Evening | Locke St. |
| Thursday, December 17 | Holiday Shopping Late Night | Evening | Locke St. |
The BIA lists the three December dates as Holiday Shopping Late Nights, held on Thursdays. Put together, Locke's holiday shopping season is a Friday evening, a Saturday and three Thursday evenings. Three of those five dates are weeknight evenings.
A Music Rotation That Doesn't Stop for the Season
Locke has a weekly evening rhythm of its own, apart from the holiday events. The BIA runs it under the name Locke Street Live, with three venues on the same short stretch hosting music on different nights:
- West Town, 214 Locke Street South, has live music on Tuesday evenings.
- The Squire, 225 Locke Street South, has live music every other Thursday evening.
- The Avro, 211 Locke Street South, has live music on Sunday evenings.
Those three addresses sit within a few doors of each other, between 211 and 225 Locke South. The BIA also says to watch for buskers on weekends and on nice-weather days, and adds that "Hamilton 2026 is a Music City!" Once the market closes and outdoor weekends get less reliable, this indoor rotation is the part of Locke's calendar that keeps going every week. It covers Tuesday, alternate Thursdays and Sunday. In December, the Thursday late nights land on the same night of the week as The Squire's music.
The Newest Stop on the Block
Locke Cycle & Social is the newest storefront on that stretch and a good place to stop before or after the music. It opened September 8, 2026, at 202 Locke Street South. CBC Hamilton reported that it's a restaurant that also repairs bikes, in the building that formerly housed the café Democracy. The owner, Mustafa Ismail, told CBC Hamilton that the shop opened with no Google listing or advertising and "blew up very quickly," with traffic beyond his "best-case scenario."
202 Locke South is just steps from the music venues at 211, 214 and 225. A Tuesday or Sunday evening could start with a meal there and move down the block for the music.
Two more names have been announced for the street. Urbanicity reported in June that School Specialty Coffee plans a second shop at 147 Locke Street South, with no firm opening date announced at the time. The Hamilton Spectator reported that Summer's Ice Cream is coming to 171 Locke Street South, the former Amo Gelato Caffe space, with no confirmed opening date. Both are announced openings, not open doors. Neither has a confirmed date yet.
Planning the Next Six Weeks on Locke
The handoff happens fast. The market's final morning is this Saturday, November 7. Six days later, on Friday, November 13, the street fills between Hunter and Herkimer from 5 to 8 p.m. After that, expect the evening rhythm through December:
- Saturday, November 7: Last chance at the market, 9 a.m. to noon at 260 Locke South.
- Friday, November 13: Magic of Locke opening evening with live music, 5 to 8 p.m.
- Saturday, November 14: Magic of Locke all day. The Santa Claus Parade runs on the Mountain from 2 to 4 p.m.
- Tuesdays and Sundays: Music at West Town and The Avro.
- Alternate Thursdays: Music at The Squire.
- December 3, 10 and 17: Holiday Shopping Late Nights.
After November 7, every date the BIA lists before Christmas falls in the evening except Saturday, November 14.
